This is a reasonable quality helmet for the price. The size seems accurate to my measurements and the fit is comfortable and easy to adjust.
Unfortunately, the tip your head to activate the turn signal does not work on my helmet. Pressing the R/L buttons on the remote turns on the signal for 12 s, and then turns it off so you don’t have to worry about whether you left the turn signal on, but I would prefer a longer interval than 12 s.
The description of one feature does say that the lights only work at night, but it was not clear to me that this applied to all features of the helmet’s lights, including the turn signal. It does, no lights of any kind during daylight.
If you place electrical tape on the lens for the back light as shown in the picture, you can block the light sensor without blocking the LEDs and trick the helmet into “thinking” it is dark when it isn’t. The light will then work during the daytime.

I received the Bluetooth version today. I was careful to size my head accurately and ended up getting the large helmet which turned out to be the correct size. It has a screw you turn to tighten up the inner part and this snugged it up nicely. The lights and gyro turn signal worked well.
I tested the Bluetooth stereo headset by connecting it to my PC and playing a Youtube documentary and then some music. Other people had commented that the sound output was too low however I had no problem with it and the volume buttons worked fine. I suspect that ILM may have upgraded the sound system in response to complaints. This new version sounded good with adequate base, mid range and treble sound. The Bluetooth controls on the side also let you change songs without have to touch the phone.
I really like the gyro turn signals which are very convenient for using the helmet with bike share ebikes.
This helmet is a game-changer for me. Previously I was using a skateboard helmet which was stronger than the typical bike helmet but this one is much stronger than that. The visor’s mechanism gives a solid click.
The instructions are well written and thorough.
Customer service is via email and fast. You can register and activate their lifetime warranty from their website.
I honestly have nothing to say but praise for this helmet.

Der Helm ist relativ leicht und die enthaltenen features werden den Anforderungen gerecht. Aufgrund seines Schutzes für Ohren und Wangen ist er relativ warm. Der durchs Visier ermöglichte Schutz für luftzugempfindliche Augen ist meines Erachtens richtig klasse. Das Visier reicht in heruntergeklapptem Zustand bis zur Nasenspitze. Einziger Nachteil- bei tiefstehender Sonne ist die Sicht trotz abgedunkeltem Visier nur eingeschränkt möglich. Vielleicht hilft es, unter dem Visier eine Sonnenbrille zu tragen.

Besides that, pretty ok quality (aka it sadly survived me throwing it on ground after I realized I had been fooled into buying it).

The helmet is well-constructed and provides solid protection in a fall, but the lighting features could use improvement. During the day, you’ll need to cover the sensors to use the lights, as they won’t function otherwise. Black electrical tape cut to size does the trick. There are no indicators for battery status, even though it’s supposed to charge in about two hours show a green light with full charge that doesn’t happen with mine, but not a dealbreaker for me. LOL! The Bluetooth feature includes a red and blue light for charging, but the charging port is poorly designed, which raises concerns about its durability. The sound volume is also low—likely a design choice to maintain awareness of your surroundings—so I recommend opting for a neck speaker or open-ear headphones instead. I rated it three stars mainly due to the lighting issues, but it is comfortable, lightweight, and aesthetically pleasing, even more so than some pricier helmets with removable visors. The ability to lift the visor while attached is a great bonus. I’m sure no one wants to carry around a visor in their back pocket.

Der Helm hat eine NTA 877G. Zertifizierung und ist somit auch zugelassen für s-Pedelecs hält Stürze mit bis zu 45h/km aus.
Er entspricht derCE Norm. Meiner ist die Version ohne Bluetooth und ein Gewicht von 457 Gramm in der Größe S/m
Die Helmform bietet mehr Schutz. Geht über dünnere Schläfenknochen und weiter über den Hinterkopf und über die Stirn. Der Akku ist in 2 Stunden über USB C aufgeladen. Wenn die grüne LED aufleuchtet, ist der Ladevorgang abgeschlossen. Für die Blüftung stehen 10 Luft Schlitze zur Verfügung. Leider sind die Schlitze von innen nicht mit einem Netz gesichert. Das fände ich persönlich besser.
Je nach Lichtmodus soll der Akku bis zu 5h halten. Für Zopfträger evtl. wichtig, ein Zopf passt nicht unter den Helm.

Das Visier kann abgenommen werden, Blindstopfen sind im Lieferumfang enthalten. Eigene Brille kann unter dem Visier getragen werden.
Ersatzvisiere oder andere Farben sind erhältlich und kosten knapp 20 Euro. Schöner wäre eine Magnetbefestigung
Was mich überrascht hat, ist dass die Bedienungsanleitung nicht auf deutsch ist. Für mich kein Probem, aber ich finde das sollte schon sein.
Wenn man eine Radbrille trägt, kann man diese nicht in den Lüftungsschlitzen parken. Ist evtl. Für einige interessant
Der Helm macht einen wirklich sehr guten Eindruck. Die Lichtfunktion über den Lichtsensor finde ich super. Auch die Möglichkeit durch das Kopfneigen ein Blinken auszulösen. Das Visier ist klasse. Keine tränende Augen mehr! Ein wirklich toller Helm und ein top Preis/Leistungsverhältniss.
Würde ihn auf jeden Fall wieder kaufen.

I also love the safety aspects of the light on the back and lightweight face shield. It looks absolutely amazing on her and fits like a glove. My only complaint is with the face shield not wanting to stay in the up position after she had used it for a few days. That’s not a huge deal for her because she uses it down anyway. This is an extremely high quality product that performed way beyond my expectations, even with the sun visor issue. I would totally recommend this to anyone who needs a good lightweight helmet with lots of tech.

This is a very good helmet. Made very similarly to motorcycle helmets but not as cumbersome. Very light with an appropriately snug fit while being surprisingly comfortable. The straps are well attached with reflective stitching and red safety clasp and fastens securely and easily. I really like the lighting. The white front lite is awesome for looking down at my speedo @ nite and the rear flashers with blinkers is really bright. I purchased the Bluetooth model and my only complaint is the actual usb c jack is so far recessed that most usb plugs I had wouldn’t work. I had to “mod” it a little bit which wasn’t a problem but it should be noted. The sound is fair but I don’t really want imersive audio while riding. Having a visor is great. I’m loving it. Nice change from my Rock Brothers riding glasses. Overall I’m extremely pleased with it and recommend it for ebikers who like to zoom a little bit more than most. (edit 3/5) I love this helmet. I’ve been using it daily for over 4 months and it’s great. Holds up to harsh weather well. The lights have a daylight sensor, nice. The audio is fine. I’ve come to appreciate the overall volume and sound while not drowning out traffic. Now if they only sold visors!

Don’t think I’ve got a particularly large head but this seems on the small side, I’d advise ordering a size bigger than you’d normally buy. Think it is more suited to a moped rather than an e bike

After more experimentation, I found that no matter where I set the tension, any pressure would cause the adjustment to slip open and make the helmet extremely loose on the head. This could be catastrophic in an actual crash and possibly cause the helmet to slide out of position or even off the head. In addition, this helmet when tightened properly had excess propensity to rotate back and forth compared to other helmets I have used. If this helmet stayed on your head, it may be very safe in a crash, but I think this helmet may not stay on your head if any pressure were applied to it. At best, it may stay on but not be positioned properly during a crash. I have no confidence in this helmet. Maybe the mechanism on the one I receive is just broken/defective but compared to other helmets the head adjustment band seems very flimsy to me.

The fit is adjustable as long as you order the size within your measurement range. I like the fact that the speakers cover the ears to keep them warm in cold riding. They sound fine, but are not high fidelity speakers I like the fact that I could answer my phone while riding by merely pushing a button and talking. This helmet is more substantial than your standard bicycle helmet. It is of course rated for E bikes up to 28 miles an hou. Ther strap is adjustable and comfortable. The flip up visor is a very nice convenience in colder weather. I don’t yet know if this helmet would be too warm to wear in the hot weather. It looks like it’s well ventilated so I will have to wait till summer to find that out. The only thing I don’t like about it is the lights won’t come on unless it gets dark, but I didn’t buy it for the lights. I may be wrong about their functionality, but that’s what the instructions say. Ride safe.

-it’s light

-it has an adjustable rear strap for height
the bad:
-i bought the red color, this color is not advertised as not having the 15 degree tilt head signaling
-the remote has no audible feedback, you’ll never know if you’re signaling or not, pretty much defeats the purpose
the ugly:
-why is there a blue light? why? road laws do not permit the use of flashing blue and red lights for good reason, and most important police get really pissed off with blue lights. and one that looks like a flashing blue & red light (see video). good luck to you if you use this mode on the streets. when you have the solid red light, the left side now appears purplish because it is blending with the ‘always on’ blue light. again, the blue light has no functional purpose other than telling you it’s on. you ‘could’ have used a different color like red or white. probably this wasn’t your design, this looks to be an OEM design which the actual manufacturer offered as possible design choices.
I contacted the manufacturer regarding the blue/red light and this was their response:
“The helmet front light is light, and the blue light at the tail is steady, indicating that the light sense of the front light is working normally. It does not affect normal use, and does not violate any laws and regulations, it is recommended to read the helmet use instructions in combination with the manual.”
IMO: you’re making a very black/white statement there for all jurisdictions. will you be paying any tickets/penalties if I get one? i don’t think so.

I love the fit & feel of this helmet. I really love the visor & no having to wear sunglasses with the visor down. I will say that the helmet could use more air vents, as it get pretty hot in warmer temps here in Southern Kentucky. I also had a minor issue with some of the padded strips inside the helmet wanting to come unglued & roll up on me, causing the hard plastic to come in contact with my bare head, but I fixed that with some superglue & now we’re good. I have had the chance to do a night ride yet, so I haven’t gotten to test the lights in that situation yet, but every time I power it up at home, they come on very bright & flashing & I’ve only put one charge to it. The other negative I can list is that the the charge port rubber protective cover doesn’t seat well into the charge port, so I’m not sure if it’ll provide much protection in a rainy situation. Any way…..I’ll still give it 5 stars for now, just because of its functionality, good looks, visor & sturdy feel.

I have a spy+ XL helmet and bought an XXL here. I was so sure that it would fit, but no. The XXL here is smaller than the Spy+ XL. It pinched my temples and I couldn’t wear it.
Careful about the size you need. It runs small.

This helmet is well-made with a detachable visor and removable foam pads for easy cleaning. It also features a lock opening for securing your helmet to your bike. I used it in winter, so ventilation wasn’t a concern for me. While this helmet is nearly perfect, a few minor tweaks could take it to the next level. The front light could be brighter, and the Bluetooth speakers could be more powerful. I also wish the automatic light feature had a manual override. That said, this helmet stands out for its quality, protection, and thoughtful design. I’d definitely recommend this ILM Smart Adult Bike Helmet.

Das Frontlicht und auch das Rücklicht des Helmes ist sehr hell, ersetzt aber nicht die Lichtquellen des Fahrrades. Insgesammt ein sehr guter Helm, der gut passt und weiter empfohlen werden kann.

I generally hate to give negative reviews, but maybe this will help fix this issue. I purchased this helmet because I thought it had a high safety rating. It also appeared to have better head coverage than other helmets. But…… The adjuster that adjusts the head diameter for this helmet is very flimsy. I noticed as I tightened it, it started to slip. After more experimentation, I found that no matter where I set the tension, any pressure would cause the adjustment to slip open and make the helmet extremely loose on the head. This could be catastrophic in an actual crash and possibly cause the helmet to slide out of position or even off the head. In addition, this helmet when tightened properly had excess propensity to rotate back and forth compared to other helmets I have used. If this helmet stayed on your head, it may be very safe in a crash, but I think this helmet may not stay on your head if any pressure were applied to it. At best, it may stay on but not be positioned properly during a crash. I have no confidence in this helmet. Maybe the mechanism on the one I receive is just broken/defective but compared to other helmets the head adjustment band seems very flimsy to me.

-why is there a blue light? why? road laws do not permit the use of flashing blue and red lights for good reason, and most important police get really pissed off with blue lights. and one that looks like a flashing blue & red light (see video). good luck to you if you use this mode on the streets. when you have the solid red light, the left side now appears purplish because it is blending with the ‘always on’ blue light. again, the blue light has no functional purpose other than telling you it’s on. you ‘could’ have used a different color like red or white. probably this wasn’t your design, this looks to be an OEM design which the actual manufacturer offered as possible design choices.
I contacted the manufacturer regarding the blue/red light and this was their response:
“The helmet front light is light, and the blue light at the tail is steady, indicating that the light sense of the front light is working normally. It does not affect normal use, and does not violate any laws and regulations, it is recommended to read the helmet use instructions in combination with the manual.”
IMO: you’re making a very black/white statement there for all jurisdictions. will you be paying any tickets/penalties if I get one? i don’t think so.

This helmet is well-made with a detachable visor and removable foam pads for easy cleaning. It also features a lock opening for securing your helmet to your bike. I used it in winter, so ventilation wasn’t a concern for me. While this helmet is nearly perfect, a few minor tweaks could take it to the next level. The front light could be brighter, and the Bluetooth speakers could be more powerful. I also wish the automatic light feature had a manual override. That said, this helmet stands out for its quality, protection, and thoughtful design. I’d definitely recommend this ILM Smart Adult Bike Helmet.

I also love the safety aspects of the light on the back and lightweight face shield. It looks absolutely amazing on her and fits like a glove. My only complaint is with the face shield not wanting to stay in the up position after she had used it for a few days. That’s not a huge deal for her because she uses it down anyway. This is an extremely high quality product that performed way beyond my expectations, even with the sun visor issue. I would totally recommend this to anyone who needs a good lightweight helmet with lots of tech.

These days treating people well is rare by most vendors and service providers. Usually they don’t care, ignore you, or blame you for their shortcomings or poor quality. This helmet is of great quality. Cool features. way stronger and safer than the average bike helmet. I had one issue with it (that turned out to be my mistake) and they immediately responded with apologies and initiated a swift refund. No questions, no arguments, no frustration. So in appreciation and gratitude I leave this positive review. I hope karma balances the scales and tips them in their favor for this kind act. I hope it inspires 10 more people to purchase their product. The ONLY thing I would say is not perfect on this helmet if I am being truthful is the front light could be a little stronger, the bluetooth speaker could be a little more powerful, and the automatic light activation feature is cool, but there could be a manual option for the times at dusk when it is not quite dark enough for the lights to come one. I solved that issue by purchasing an additional helmet mount light. Other than that, this helmet is close to perfect, better than most others, and definitely stronger and more protective than any others I have seen. I am sure their other products are made just as thoughtfully with equal quality. Give them a try if your’e on the fence between another product.

I think this helmet is well constructed, fits nicely and adjusts comfortably. However, the bluetooth speakers need to upgraded you can’t hardly hear them. I don’t know if that’s by design for safety or just poor quality. I would recommend the helmet without the earphone version.

This is a very good helmet. Made very similarly to motorcycle helmets but not as cumbersome. Very light with an appropriately snug fit while being surprisingly comfortable. The straps are well attached with reflective stitching and red safety clasp and fastens securely and easily. I really like the lighting. The white front lite is awesome for looking down at my speedo @ nite and the rear flashers with blinkers is really bright. I purchased the Bluetooth model and my only complaint is the actual usb c jack is so far recessed that most usb plugs I had wouldn’t work. I had to “mod” it a little bit which wasn’t a problem but it should be noted. The sound is fair but I don’t really want imersive audio while riding. Having a visor is great. I’m loving it. Nice change from my Rock Brothers riding glasses. Overall I’m extremely pleased with it and recommend it for ebikers who like to zoom a little bit more than most. (edit 3/5) I love this helmet. I’ve been using it daily for over 4 months and it’s great. Holds up to harsh weather well. The lights have a daylight sensor, nice. The audio is fine. I’ve come to appreciate the overall volume and sound while not drowning out traffic. Now if they only sold visors!

Review of ILM E3-12LS roll-out… once Bluetooth wireless audio headphone system assembled.
Location: Shellharbour, New South Wales 2hrs south-coast from Sydney capital in Australia.
Environment & Climate : Wednesday April 8th ….HOT Sydney Summer heading into Winter. Currently 27 – 30 degrees Celsius this same delivery day and twilight / night ride.
Result: ILM E3-12LS is HEAVY “ice hockey” style helmet / “stack-hat” compared to conventional Specialized ALIGN or CHAMONIX longitudinal vented bicycle criterion road cycling helmets. Experienced a bit of E3-12LS helmet fatigue over a long ride…but hey! I was wearing this new unit in.
Because of todays test rides, I think most north Americans would agree that high ambient temperatures was trapping a lot of HEAT from upper body extremities i.e.. the “NOODLE” inside the helmet. However…in the coming few weeks it’s going to get much colder down-under, so all is AOK for a future WARM and comfortable ride with pleasant AUDIO.
The Bluetooth pairing to my Samsung Galaxy S23+ Android smartphone worked flawlessly.
I’m connected with the Spotify App on this handheld Snapdragon computer / phone….it has a fabulous digital camera & audio on this device.
I was disappointed that ILM & Amazon did not CONSOLIDATE or bundle my X2 VISOR(s) order and pack it in the very same ILM E3-12LS order / box-set… made obvious in the first place !
I am patiently awaiting X2 VISOR(s) shipment and I’ve checked tracking and it still has NOT made a move….”Giddy UP” Amazon / ILM on my E3-12LS CLEAR & COLORFUL visors , please.
Also noticed that the FRONT light on the helmet is not that bright…..and seems like its designed for
RIDER IDENTITY and is not powerful enough to light up the road or pathway ahead !
Seems this needs attention and improvement. Rear lights also work on identity and signaling vehicles
behind the rider AOK.
Did all testing on the FACTORY CHARGE and have not needed to recharge as yet.
Everything else seems AOK so far….will have to review again after a good 6 months of use through winter.

Great helmet, comfortable and tough. Great lighting and the automatic braking light and turn signals work great and Bluetooth ability is a plus as well… All in all a good helmet… I wouldn’t use it though if you’re traveling faster than 28mph. I believe that’s what it’s rated for,,, Safety first…

My only complaint is with the face shield not wanting to stay in the up position after she had used it for a few days. That’s not a huge deal for her because she uses it down anyway. This is an extremely high quality product that performed way beyond my expectations, even with the sun visor issue. I would totally recommend this to anyone who needs a good lightweight helmet with lots of tech.

I generally hate to give negative reviews, but maybe this will help fix this issue. I purchased this helmet because I thought it had a high safety rating. It also appeared to have better head coverage than other helmets. But…… The adjuster that adjusts the head diameter for this helmet is very flimsy. I noticed as I tightened it, it started to slip. After more experimentation, I found that no matter where I set the tension, any pressure would cause the adjustment to slip open and make the helmet extremely loose on the head. This could be catastrophic in an actual crash and possibly cause the helmet to slide out of position or even off the head. In addition, this helmet when tightened properly had excess propensity to rotate back and forth compared to other helmets I have used. If this helmet stayed on your head, it may be very safe in a crash, but I think this helmet may not stay on your head if any pressure were applied to it. At best, it may stay on but not be positioned properly during a crash. I have no confidence in this helmet. Maybe the mechanism on the one I receive is just broken/defective but compared to other helmets the head adjustment band seems very flimsy to me.
Funky Face Lift –
This helmet is well-made with a detachable visor and removable foam pads for easy cleaning. It also features a lock opening for securing your helmet to your bike. I used it in winter, so ventilation wasn’t a concern for me. While this helmet is nearly perfect, a few minor tweaks could take it to the next level. The front light could be brighter, and the Bluetooth speakers could be more powerful. I also wish the automatic light feature had a manual override. That said, this helmet stands out for its quality, protection, and thoughtful design. I’d definitely recommend this ILM Smart Adult Bike Helmet.
Funky Face Lift –
The fit is adjustable as long as you order the size within your measurement range. I like the fact that the speakers cover the ears to keep them warm in cold riding. They sound fine, but are not high fidelity speakers I like the fact that I could answer my phone while riding by merely pushing a button and talking. This helmet is more substantial than your standard bicycle helmet. It is of course rated for E bikes up to 28 miles an hou. Ther strap is adjustable and comfortable. The flip up visor is a very nice convenience in colder weather. I don’t yet know if this helmet would be too warm to wear in the hot weather. It looks like it’s well ventilated so I will have to wait till summer to find that out. The only thing I don’t like about it is the lights won’t come on unless it gets dark, but I didn’t buy it for the lights. I may be wrong about their functionality, but that’s what the instructions say. Ride safe.

I love the fit & feel of this helmet. I really love the visor & no having to wear sunglasses with the visor down. I will say that the helmet could use more air vents, as it get pretty hot in warmer temps here in Southern Kentucky. I also had a minor issue with some of the padded strips inside the helmet wanting to come unglued & roll up on me, causing the hard plastic to come in contact with my bare head, but I fixed that with some superglue & now we’re good. I have had the chance to do a night ride yet, so I haven’t gotten to test the lights in that situation yet, but every time I power it up at home, they come on very bright & flashing & I’ve only put one charge to it. The other negative I can list is that the the charge port rubber protective cover doesn’t seat well into the charge port, so I’m not sure if it’ll provide much protection in a rainy situation. Any way…..I’ll still give it 5 stars for now, just because of its functionality, good looks, visor & sturdy feel.

This is my 2nd Helmet I ordered from this company. The 1st one i ordered was advertised with Bluetooth. I received it, however, NO BLUETOOTH. So I ordered a 2nd one. Still no Bluetooth. How do you mess up an advertised order twice? Anyways, this bike helmet is junk! They say, “one size fits all,” not true at all. I have a so called medium size head, and it doesn’t fit, way tooo tight for my cranium. False advertisement. Lights are not very visible riding at night which makes it unsafe for riders and motorist. Use your judgment, stay away from this product if you’re smart. Very dissatisfied with this product. Good luck with trying to contact customer service too. they are non-existent when it comes down to satisfying their customer.

I like this ILM Bike Helmet with pivoting visor plus turn signal and brake warning lights. The lights are powered by an internal rechargeable battery that connects to an included USB C cable for charging. Like another reviewer (thank you!) noted, the light sensor needs to be blacked out in order for the helmet lights to work during daytime. By carefully removing the rear light housing from the helmet and prying off the clear lens, I gained access to the sensor, which I blacked out with liquid black electrical tape then covered with a piece of white tape to conceal the mod after reassembly (see photos). I used a box cutter to gently pry out the light housing from the helmet; a flat chisel-tip X-acto knife might have worked better. I was mostly able to avoid cosmetic damage to the helmet (I concealed one small scrape with a dab of flat black paint). The functionality of this helmet is awesome, but it should not have been designed with the sensor that only allows it to work in the dark.

Tut genau, was er soll – bin sehr zufrieden. Einziges Manko: Bei starkem Regen läuft Wasser durch eine Fuge zwischen Helm und Visier auf der Innenseite herunter. Aber für DEN Preis erwarte ich keine Perfektion und kann gut damit leben.

Consumers should now notice that Amazon website has added new selections stating “Bluetooth” in the short description.
Please be aware of prices! If the price is too good to be true, you’re not looking at the helmet that comes with the Bluetooth ear pieces.
You would be looking at the helmet that can have the Bluetooth accessories added on later, should you so desire.
That being said, this helmet has a good fit and the visor has been a great windshield for speeds up to 22MPH.

The helmet/visor quality feels sturdy, and the lights are high visibility vs dull. However, the order was not shipped in full, twice.
We really liked the product as described for model# E3-12LS-MB-L/XL thru Amazon.com and validated the product + accessories thru ILM website.
The original order we received had the helmet/visor *without the ear attachments and remote*.
In good faith, we reported the shortage and requested a replacement. I just received essentially the same thing.
Vendor has been contacted to see if Amazon has the wrong units in stock, wrong model listed on Amazon website, or if we are being shipped incomplete orders.
