$160.00 USD

Confident traction on packed snow and ice with fast-rolling efficiency—Terrene Cake Eater 27.5″ x 4.5″ tubeless tire delivers stud-capable grip and lower rolling resistance for fat-tire and e-bike riders. The 60 TPI casing and durable rubber compound balance suppleness and longevity for dependable winter miles.

(37 customer reviews)

Description

The Terrene Cake Eater Snow Ice Bike tire pairs a wide 27.5″ x 4.5″ profile with a fast-rolling tread to keep momentum on packed winter surfaces while still letting you float over soft snow.

The tubeless, stud-capable construction is the core performance advantage. Running tubeless reduces pinch flats and lets you run lower pressures for better floatation and traction without a harsh ride. If conditions demand it, the stud-capable tread accepts metal studs for measurable bite on glazed surfaces. A 60 TPI casing keeps the sidewalls supple for lower rolling resistance and better compliance under e-bike torque, while the rubber compound and tread geometry prioritize steady tracking and predictable cornering.

  • – 27.5″ x 4.5″ wide footprint for flotation on soft snow and improved stability on mixed winter terrain

  • – Tubeless-ready design to cut flats and permit lower pressures for better traction and comfort

  • – Stud-capable tread geometry so you can add studs for peak ice performance

  • – 60 TPI casing that balances suppleness with durability for efficient rolling under e-bike power

  • – Fast-rolling Cake Eater tread profile tuned to reduce resistance without sacrificing grip

  • – Durable rubber construction built to withstand cold temperatures and abrasive winter surfaces

Practical specs and fit: this model is the Terrene Cake Eater (Model: Snow Ice Bike, Part Number: T12223, UPC: 694536468443). Item dimensions are 27.5 x 4.5 x 27.5 inches and the tire weighs approximately 4.1 pounds. The tire ships as a single included component and is optimized for fat tire bikes and e-bikes configured to accept 27.5″ x 4.5″ tires.

The Cake Eater is a focused winter solution: tubeless reliability to reduce roadside repairs, a wide profile for floatation, and stud-capable traction for icy sections. For riders who want to keep commuting, exploring, or training through winter, this tire delivers predictable control and efficient rolling where narrower tires struggle.

These are my go to for summer riding on my foes mutz. Yes they are not as light as jumbo Jim’s, but they have real knobs. Real knobs let you ride crazy stuff. They hold sealant well, I get one summer out of the rear and two out of the front.. Could go longer but the side knobs do get shredded riding hard. I have used them a bit in the winter, but too little to judge as you really need studded tires in new England.

I live in Ohio, and around here we sometimes get things like snow and ice that make bicycling next to impossible in the winter. Unless you enjoy falling down, that is.

I don’t particularly enjoy falling down, but I DO enjoy riding my bike. Enter these “Cake Eater” studded tires in the “Standard” variant (light and tough versions also available, I believe). Are they expensive? A little. But they’re 10x better than smooth street tires and 8x better than knobbies on icy roads. Are they skid-proof, absolutely not. If you do something you shouldn’t, you’re still going to fall over. What they DO, is make the impossible journey at least possible, maybe even approaching practical. They’re not a “magic bullet”, ice is ice and even studded tires will slide if you push things too far. But as someone that actually rides in wintery conditions, I’ll take these over “normal” knobby tires any day when it’s snowing.

You definitely don’t want these in hot conditions, in fact in Florida, Georgia, or Alabama you just might be arrested for using these on the streets, lol. But for those of us in the northern climes, these make your bike actually rideable in wintertime. As I said, they’re not skid-proof, but the improvement over regular tires is enough to justify the cost, hands down. 5 stars.

I’ve been running these tires now for a few seasons and cannot say enough great things about them! They’re fairly fast rolling, grip well (both on dirt and snow) and last a long time! I have yet to find a true downside to this tire.

  4. Heather –

I’ve relied on Terrene fat bike tires for years. They are fast rolling, lightweight, have great traction, and set up really easy tubeless. Work great all four seasons! I’ll continue to buy these tires.

The Cake Eater tire grips like a bear on honey but rolls like a bear after too much honey. If you’re looking for a tire that keeps you upright in snow, dirt, and loose gravel, this is a winner. But if you expect road-bike speed, you might want to lower your expectations… and your tire pressure. Tubeless setup? Oh, it’s a fun little circus act… heat it up, smash it on, blast it with air, and pray to the cycling gods. Once it’s seated, though, it holds up great. Just don’t expect it to magically turn your fat bike into a speed machine… Cake Eater, not Cake Rocket.
