Description

Morning commutes and winter trail laps demand predictable traction; the Cake Eater delivers confident control on icy streets and fast rolling on packed snow so you cover ground without constant corrections.

  • – 26″ x 4.6″ stud-capable size — engineered for fat-tire and e-bike frames that need wide contact patches for flotation and stability.
  • – 60 TPI casing — balances supple tread response with durability for heavier e-bikes and loaded winter rides.
  • – Tubeless-ready construction — run lower pressures for better traction and fewer pinch flats on rough, icy terrain.
  • – Fast-rolling center tread with lower crown height — reduces rolling resistance on packed surfaces so you retain speed between soft sections.
  • – Aggressive side lugs — carve stable lines in corners and maintain sidebite on variable snow and packed dirt.
  • – Stud pockets for optional metal studs — add traction where black ice and glazed snow demand it.

Practically speaking, this tire ships as a single-component unit (included components: Tire) and measures 26 x 4.6 x 26 inches when packed. The tire itself weighs 3.75 pounds and the package ships at about 4 pounds, making it straightforward to carry as a spare or swap for seasonal use. Manufactured by Terrene Tires (part number T11523, model name Mountain Bike) and first available July 3, 2024, the Cake Eater uses rubber compound and tread geometry tuned for year-round performance on studded snow & ice applications.

Choose the Cake Eater when you need a winter-capable fat tire that still moves efficiently on firmer surfaces. It suits e-bike commuters running 26″ fat rims, recreational riders tackling icy trails, and anyone who wants stud-ready security without sacrificing roll. Clear traction, tubeless flexibility, and a 60 TPI stud-capable build—engineered for riders who expect dependable winter performance.

The Cake Eater tire grips like a bear on honey but rolls like a bear after too much honey. If you’re looking for a tire that keeps you upright in snow, dirt, and loose gravel, this is a winner. But if you expect road-bike speed, you might want to lower your expectations… and your tire pressure. Tubeless setup? Oh, it’s a fun little circus act… heat it up, smash it on, blast it with air, and pray to the cycling gods. Once it’s seated, though, it holds up great. Just don’t expect it to magically turn your fat bike into a speed machine… Cake Eater, not Cake Rocket.

I live in Ohio, and around here we sometimes get things like snow and ice that make bicycling next to impossible in the winter. Unless you enjoy falling down, that is.

I don’t particularly enjoy falling down, but I DO enjoy riding my bike. Enter these “Cake Eater” studded tires in the “Standard” variant (light and tough versions also available, I believe). Are they expensive? A little. But they’re 10x better than smooth street tires and 8x better than knobbies on icy roads. Are they skid-proof, absolutely not. If you do something you shouldn’t, you’re still going to fall over. What they DO, is make the impossible journey at least possible, maybe even approaching practical. They’re not a “magic bullet”, ice is ice and even studded tires will slide if you push things too far. But as someone that actually rides in wintery conditions, I’ll take these over “normal” knobby tires any day when it’s snowing.

You definitely don’t want these in hot conditions, in fact in Florida, Georgia, or Alabama you just might be arrested for using these on the streets, lol. But for those of us in the northern climes, these make your bike actually rideable in wintertime. As I said, they’re not skid-proof, but the improvement over regular tires is enough to justify the cost, hands down. 5 stars.

Well made tires, the rubber is thick and the spikes built into the tread are sharp and grip well. No complaints! Arrived as promised and undamaged!

La livraison été rapide. Je n’ai pas encore installé les pneus sur mon vélo Spherik SF4, c’est la prochaine étape. Les pneus sont impressionnants et semblent de bonne qualité.

These are my go to for summer riding on my foes mutz. Yes they are not as light as jumbo Jim’s, but they have real knobs. Real knobs let you ride crazy stuff. They hold sealant well, I get one summer out of the rear and two out of the front.. Could go longer but the side knobs do get shredded riding hard. I have used them a bit in the winter, but too little to judge as you really need studded tires in new England.

I’ve been running these tires now for a few seasons and cannot say enough great things about them! They’re fairly fast rolling, grip well (both on dirt and snow) and last a long time! I have yet to find a true downside to this tire.
