Description

Pausing at a frozen trailhead, traction becomes the difference between a cautious push and a confident line. The Terrene Cake Eater tubeless fat tire gives riders reliable traction on packed snow and ice while keeping rolling resistance low for longer rides on e-bikes and traditional fat bikes.

  • – 26″ x 4.6″ size: broad footprint for flotation on snow and sand, and predictable contact on mixed winter surfaces.
  • – 60 TPI casing: a finely woven construction that balances suppleness and puncture resistance for tubeless setups.
  • – Stud-capable design with 180 Triple Traction Crown pockets: ready to accept studs for added bite on glare ice without compromising tread flow.
  • – Tubeless-ready profile: run lower pressures for traction and comfort while reducing pinch flats on rough terrain.
  • – Fast-rolling center tread with taller side lugs: reduced rolling resistance in the middle for efficient pedaling, plus confident cornering when you lean into turns.
  • – 3.75 lb (≈1700 g) per tire: lightweight for a stud-capable fat tire, so handling stays nimble on technical sections.
  • – Part number T11523, model Mountain Bike: identifies the exact spec for replacement, upgrades, or matching sets.

Practical details matter on cold rides. The Cake Eater ships compactly (package dimensions 10 x 6 x 6 inches) and fits the common 26″ fat-bike wheel standards, making installation straightforward. Rubber compound and tread geometry prioritize consistent grip across changing winter surfaces while keeping cadence and battery range efficient on e-bikes.

For riders who push winter routes, commuter paths, or mixed-terrain adventures, this tire offers a clear advantage: stud-ready security when you need it and low rolling drag when you don’t. Released July 3, 2024, the Terrene Cake Eater (Part No. T11523) is a precise, specification-led choice for snow, ice, and all-season fat-bike performance.

I live in Ohio, and around here we sometimes get things like snow and ice that make bicycling next to impossible in the winter. Unless you enjoy falling down, that is.

I don’t particularly enjoy falling down, but I DO enjoy riding my bike. Enter these “Cake Eater” studded tires in the “Standard” variant (light and tough versions also available, I believe). Are they expensive? A little. But they’re 10x better than smooth street tires and 8x better than knobbies on icy roads. Are they skid-proof, absolutely not. If you do something you shouldn’t, you’re still going to fall over. What they DO, is make the impossible journey at least possible, maybe even approaching practical. They’re not a “magic bullet”, ice is ice and even studded tires will slide if you push things too far. But as someone that actually rides in wintery conditions, I’ll take these over “normal” knobby tires any day when it’s snowing.

You definitely don’t want these in hot conditions, in fact in Florida, Georgia, or Alabama you just might be arrested for using these on the streets, lol. But for those of us in the northern climes, these make your bike actually rideable in wintertime. As I said, they’re not skid-proof, but the improvement over regular tires is enough to justify the cost, hands down. 5 stars.

horrid tires the bead will not seal if u run below 20 psi which u need to the air just pours out from the bead manufacturer is a joke just says its my fault yet all over in chants tons of people fomplaining about it there are manufactured dongles that wont let it seal

These are my go to for summer riding on my foes mutz. Yes they are not as light as jumbo Jim’s, but they have real knobs. Real knobs let you ride crazy stuff. They hold sealant well, I get one summer out of the rear and two out of the front.. Could go longer but the side knobs do get shredded riding hard. I have used them a bit in the winter, but too little to judge as you really need studded tires in new England.

I’ve been running these tires now for a few seasons and cannot say enough great things about them! They’re fairly fast rolling, grip well (both on dirt and snow) and last a long time! I have yet to find a true downside to this tire.

The Cake Eater tire grips like a bear on honey but rolls like a bear after too much honey. If you’re looking for a tire that keeps you upright in snow, dirt, and loose gravel, this is a winner. But if you expect road-bike speed, you might want to lower your expectations… and your tire pressure. Tubeless setup? Oh, it’s a fun little circus act… heat it up, smash it on, blast it with air, and pray to the cycling gods. Once it’s seated, though, it holds up great. Just don’t expect it to magically turn your fat bike into a speed machine… Cake Eater, not Cake Rocket.
