Confident traction on snow and glazed ice thanks to 378 aluminium studs and Schwalbe’s Evolution Line build. Sized 27.5 x 2.25 (57-584) with a 840 g Liteskin folding carcass, it balances aggressive grip and reduced rotational mass for e-bike riders.
Morning commutes and weekend routes don’t stop for frost. The Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pro Hs379 Evolution Line folding tyre gives you predictable grip where slick surfaces normally force you to slow down.
Start with the benefit: 378 aluminium studs placed across the tread bite hard into ice and compacted snow, turning hazardous sections into manageable stretches. The Evolution Line construction and Liteskin sidewalls reduce weight while keeping the tyre supple and responsive—important for e-bikes that need controlled traction without excessive rotational mass. Folding bead lets you pack a spare or fit tight rims without fuss.
Practical specs matter: this single-item tyre (model Ice Spiker Pro Liteskin 378 Chiodi, part number 11600628, model year 2018) is built from durable rubber in Nero finish and ships in compact packaging (item dimensions ~11.8″ cubic). At 840 g it balances durability with the lower weight e-bike riders want to preserve battery range and acceleration response.
Choose this tyre if you commute on winter streets, follow mixed frozen trails, or need a reliable studded option for rear-wheel drive torque on steep, icy climbs. Schwalbe’s Ice Spiker Pro Hs379 turns hazardous winter surfaces into confident rides—faster, safer, and more controllable.

I purchased these tires because winter conditions around here make it nearly impossible to ride regularly. I did about 70% of the break-in time on asphalt. I’ve done 30 miles of trail riding over rocky and extremely icy trails and have only lost one stud. These tires work exceptionally well, roll well, shed snow well and provided an extremely secure and confident ride. Without exception they have turned winter riding over rough and technical trails into very safe and dependable routes. These tires have exceeded my expectations. I have been able to do tight figure eights and circles on polished snow free ice and have never lost traction. Worth every penny. Purchase with confidence.
Vuil Hond –
The tire is a nice aggressive knoby dirt bike like tire tibegin with that offers good slush and snow traction but the studs really grab at the ice. Great stopping power on ice but be worry if quick stops on asphalt you are likely to slide a bit. Great trade off though for bad weather traction.

You just gotta see these things… amazing. I note that instructions provide mild use (no fast breaking etc) for about 40km prior to normal use to allow the spikes to “seat” properly… these things are a game changer for winter riding… although maybe an aggressive tire for some, commuting/riding any where in winter with sun/ice cycle these will allow a ride anytime (e.g. early cool morning on ice, and later in warming day)… seriously, if you are on the fence I highly recommend….

They do struggle in unpacked snow but other than that these babies never slid out on me once! Works best on solid ice or very hard pack snow. In soft snow one inch or more the studs tend to not hold as well and tire will not be planted as well. Amazing on ice, just like riding on pavement. I rode on a frozen lake it was great unless I made more of an sharp turn, then the studs would lose grip. Gentle turns on ice best.

If it’s possible to find any sort of grip, these tires will do it. I don’t think I’d want to ride on smooth polished concrete, but pretty much anything else would be fine.
Recognize that deep and loose ‘chowder’ snow or slush churned up by cars will still be difficult to ride through… those conditions will pull your car around too, so hardly a surprise that your bike will be challenged.
Trail riding on a minor layer of snow, on packed snow and on freeze/thaw snow/ice conditions – all remarkably good. My perception is that I can climb as well in those conditions with the Ice Spiker Pro tires as with regular MTB tires on dry summer dirt.
My only concern is the recommendation that they be ‘worn in’ on pavement for 40km before being used for the purpose intended. This is evidently intended to properly seat the studs so you aren’t as likely to lose them on trail. It would be nice if they could manufacture the tires in such a way that this wouldn’t be necessary. I have no interest in riding on pavement, and certainly not in sketchy winter conditions. After all, how many people are likely to order these tires in the summer and mount them up before conditions dictate? I have to wonder if this is just a way to duck complaints about stud loss.

If you want to ride confidently on snow and ice these tires are a great compliment to any mountain bike. I commute to work 3 days per week on these many times on compact snow and ice. The other day I saw a Subbie go off the road slipping on the sheet ice as I came confidently to a stop.
Dry traction is definitely lower than regular road tires but they do very well on all loose surfaces and mud. These are very aggressive tread and they are noisy. Rolling resistance is higher than regular road tires too.

It is my first winter tire with metal spikes and I am really impressed by it. Grip on ice and compacted snow is just incredible. Same about soil and rocks, however, you should note one issue: sudden and keen braking on any solid surface; like rocks, compacted ground, asphalt can easily get your bike out of control unless you take enough care, more then on regular tires. I noticed that braking path became longer as well. Be aware of its noise. As I said, I never rode metal spikes before and if neither you did, then expect everyone starring at you trying to understand where this metal knocking sound comes from. Also, bike roll becomes just terrible. You ll notice how much more effort you need to climb, but this is quite understandable due to nature of this tire
I suspect (however I cannot say for sure) these tires might have problems with durability. I lost two spikes at rear and 1 at front tire just after 2 weeks of moderate cycling. Tire walls are extremely thin ( probably, tribute to weight winning ) so they look quite unreliable, particularly if you try to lower pressures
Overall I rate this product 5 stars, because it drives just crazy. I rode my bike on such steep side slopes, I never dared before. Grip feels just unlimited

These are great tires which I am using for daily winter commuting. Finally had a good storm here in CT to try them on: freezing rain, then dropped to 15 degrees with ice, black ice, frozen snow on the roads everywhere and not a single squirrely slip or skid. Mind you I was not tearing around corners or anything, definitely going very conservative but they were fantastic. I have some steep hills up and down and powered right up without a slip and braking downhill was equally sure footed.
I will say that the road noise is pretty loud when it is on pavement but not a big deal.
Worth the money.

I commute all winter in MN and I love these tires. There is no one perfect tire for all conditions but these tick a lot of winter boxes. I have a high wattage Surly Ogre ebike to make the all year commute doable (I’m old and heavy and hate car payments) and I’ve tried a bunch of winter tires and these win, hands down. I have a hilly, curvy, sketchy, icy commute and I’ve fallen a couple times on other studded tires so I’m obsessed with safety. These have enough volume to be cushy and have bunches of traction but still roll well. They sound like popping corn on bare pavement but who cares when the goal is staying upright. The studs are holding up well. I replace the center studs each year. Street riding hasn’t knocked any studs out. When the roads are clear, they obviously aren’t as good as a nice street tire, corner handling and noise (noise can be handy to alert pedestrians), but when it dumps and freezes out, it’s always worth it having them on. I’ve had very expensive studded fat tires (Dillingers) on other bikes and the safety factor on these is so much higher. The aggressive lugs are way better at getting the studs down to payment and not floating the studs up like fat tires love to even in light slop. I live where they like to not plow the roads, I’m talking they just skip that section of town on purpose, and the confidence with these tires is high. Great on glare ice. If you are one of the “that guy is crazy” commuters doing tough winter commuting, these come highly recommended.

Awesome tires!! Sound like a Sherman Tank running down the road!! Very minor resistance considering the aggressive tread and studs. 5” deep snow it functions well. Take a while to arrive but the price is very good!! 600 km on tire already and has worn a bit. But mostly on dry/wet pavement. Great for Canadian winters!!

I just got the tires mounted today. They fit in my fenders which makes me happy. They look super aggressive with about a million studs. Pretty sure if I ran over an animal it would be instant hamburger. I haven’t even used them yet. This review is more about the seller. Two studded Schwalbe tires for $90, shipped from GB. I can’t even buy one locally for that. And, best part is, they got here 10 days after I ordered. I will try to use this seller again.

Seems to have a few tiny pinholes along the sidewall. Seals with enough muc-off sealant to work well for icy morning commuting.

I’ve put about 1000 miles on these this winter riding daily, mostly on snow/ice with a stock diamondback union 2, class 3 pedelec. I haven’t been riding that aggressively and never lock up the brakes, and take turns wide as possible to minimize wear.
Unfortunately there are already 25-30 studs missing from my rear tire, there are 11 in a row right up the middle. These tires aren’t made well, maybe it would be fine without the extra torque and just human power, but I was disappointed with the ultimate durability and quality of these tires.

Buy replacement stud’s upon purchase of this tire, you’ll need them! – at a REDICULOUS price of $30 for 50 studs (see Schwalbe Bicycle Tire Replacement Studs w/Tool – 50 Studs – 5512). Will be cheaper to replace entire tire after a couple seasons than to keep buying studs at that price!!! I broke in these tires following the manufacturer specifications prior to using them on ice/off road and they still lose studs regularly- about 20 studs on front & 15 on back tire per winter season. Of course, the front loses them more because it’s this wheel that has more torqueing (turning/maneuvering). Don’t let the stud holes (which are located on the knobs of the tires) go empty without replacing a stud into them. Otherwise, the hole collects debri & this tears at the edges of the hole and damages it, not making it possible to put in a replacement stud. Also, I noticed that some of the knobs, that were missing a stud, did eventually tear right of the tire. I may update this after I get another manufacturer’s replacement studs in the mail (price is $13 for 100 studs, but are steel- tipped and not carbide).

These tires work great on ice.

Very cool but difficult to run tubeless.
Seems to have a few tiny pinholes along the sidewall. Seals with enough muc-off sealant to work well for icy morning commuting.

I got the 26 by 2.25 they are really nice tires I don’t think I could get them to slip if I tried I mean I did try to some but they get amazing traction. I would most definitely buy them again.

Man merkt garnichts!

Fair price, accurate description new in box, very clean. Prompt shipment and delivery.

Ideal für den Winter.
