Description

Fitting studs by headlamp becomes simple with a tool that holds each stud, aligns it, and spares your hands.

The Stud Wrangler Stud Insertion Tool (Model: Stud Wrangler) converts a fiddly winter task into a controlled, repeatable step. An ergonomic polyurethane handle spreads pressure across your palm so repeated insertions don’t fatigue your grip. The stainless steel shaft with a magnetized tip captures and holds individual studs for precise placement—no dropped studs, no wasted time. The result: faster setup, fewer mistakes, and a more confident winter ride.

  • – Ergonomic polyurethane handle reduces hand fatigue during multiple stud installations
  • – Magnetized stainless-steel tip secures studs for one-handed, accurate placement
  • – Durable stainless-steel shaft stands up to repeated shop or trail use
  • – Lightweight 86 g tool fits compact repair kits and packs easily for on-ride adjustments
  • – Visible pink color helps you spot the tool in snow, bags, or repair stations
  • – Lifetime warranty from The Bike Guys, LLC provides long-term reliability

Practical specs matter when you ride in winter. The Stud Wrangler ships as a single, one-size insertion tool (included components: Stud Insertion Tool) and measures 6.5 x 4.75 x 0.75 inches in its package, with a package weight of 99 grams. Materials are stainless steel for the shaft and a polyurethane handle for comfort and grip. The tool is intended for use with studdable bicycle tires and fits standard studs used by fat-bike and commuter riders who add traction for snow and ice.

Install studs faster. Reduce fumbling in cold hands. Keep a reliable, visible tool in your kit that’s built to last and backed by a lifetime warranty. The Stud Wrangler makes winter tire studding more precise and less work—so you can focus on the ride, not the setup.

Works good for inserting studs into studdable tires. Fun (flamingo head) shaped handle is a comfortable fit in hand that helps with repeated insertion motion.

  3. Spiderman –

The only stud tool I have used but it worked great and really appreciated the magnetic tip. Held the stid even of I messed up the insertion and it popped out.

Très bonne outils posé au delà de Cent clous aucun problème excellent

  5. MUGG –

Had to replace a bunch of studs on winter fat bike tires. This fool helps muscle them in nicely without too much effort. Much better than the flimsy tool that came with the studs.

  6. Miguel G. –

Makes a rather boring and tedious job short work. Reliably inserts and removes studs into tire pockets with ease. Would recommend.

Works great and easy to use. The rubberize texture makes it easy to grip and comfortable in your hand.

  9. clydo –

The magnetic tip and comfortable grip are outstanding features. Load the stud, touch it to some hand sanitizer (lubricant that evaporates!), press it in the hole at 45 degree angle (beak down), and lift up on the beak. Repeat.

I would suggest this tool. Works great!

  13. Will Boardman –

The stud wrangler is an amazing improvement over prior stud tools I have used. Significantly less effort levering studs into place, eliminated hand pain with wider handle, so easy it can be done with non-dominant hand. Sped up the studding process! I did 360 studs in a little over an hour and a half evening work session and could have kept going. Using other (45nrth) tools my hand would have been toast after half that many.

Do yourself a favour and get this. I started with a cheap non-magnetic screw driver type and it was so much harder to the point of the pain exceeded the gain. It’s still hard work with this tool, but much easier. I had to install 240 studs per tire on tires that had been previously ridden. Step one, clean tires, then use a small flat head screw driver to take the rocks out of each hole. Keep the tires heavily inflated. Online I read low PSI, but that didn’t work for me, PSI should be higher than what you ride. Line up all your studs so you can quickly stab them with the tool and dip in hand sanitizer for lube (don’t use soap). Last, 45 degree angle insertion and then just tilt in opposite direction with heavy pushing force. I found for the studs in the center of tire required first the 45 degrees, then a circular motion to get the stud pushed in. I’m guessing every tire will be different. I only say all this because I couldn’t really find much info online so hopefully this is helpful to some.

If you’re going to spend a few hours installing your own studs in “stud-able” bike tires, you absolutely do not want to use one of the insertion tools with straight, screwdriver-shaped handles. The flamingo head shape of this tool is super ergonomic and the insertion end is magnetized inside to make it easy to pick up individual studs from a pile. It takes a lot of the fight out of the process.

  34. CrazyGeorge –

Put in 500+ studs in a couple hours. Very well designed. I tried a different brand first and that was a mistake. This Billy Flamingo tool is the only one I would use or recommend.

Ergonomic and easy to use. When you’re having to put in 600+ studs into your tires, this is the way to get ‘er done. No hand fatigue and no blisters! Easy to load and set the studs. Will not be using anything else!!

  38. John Galt’s Ugly Brother –

I was attracted by the smooth exciting shape and the stimulating color but don’t see where the batteries go and can’t find the on button and vibration settings. However it appears that it could also be used to put studs in a fat tire. I’ll give that a try.

  39. Dan Z –

Great quality, eased installation, still no fun😆got the job done.

  40. Motor city Schmitty –

Very easy on the palm to press in 200+ studs on each tire for a Wi get set for my fat tire…
